Nigerian Celebrity News and Entertainment Updates (November 2026): What’s Happening and Where to Follow It
Last updated: 5 November 2026 · By Naijatipsland Editorial Team · Editorial policy
Nigerian entertainment moves fast. A film premiere in London, a new artist signed by a global platform and a viral skit can all land on the same day, and the same week also brings fake death hoaxes, doctored screenshots and recycled “breaking news”. This guide does two jobs: it gives you a dated snapshot of what Nigerian celebrities and the entertainment industry have been in the news for in early November 2026, and it shows you where to follow Nigerian celebrity news reliably and how to check a story before you share it.
How to read this page: the headlines below come from the entertainment sections of Pulse Nigeria and TVC News as listed between 2 and 5 November 2026. We have not independently verified every item, and we have left out stories involving private grief, crime or health because they should be handled with care. Details change quickly, so click through to the original reports.
What has been in the news (2 to 5 November 2026)
Nollywood and film
- Funke Akindele’s The Four heads to London. TVC News reported on 2 November that the film will premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London, described as a first for a Nollywood film, and on 29 October that Facebook is partnering with Akindele for the London and Lagos premieres. A VON report headline says the filmmaker has set a December release.
- AFRIFF in Lagos. TVC reported that actors Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors arrived in Lagos for this year’s Africa International Film Festival.
- Sola Sobowale’s elderly care home. Pulse reported on 4 November that the actress launched an elderly care home in Ibadan, with Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde present.
- Mr Macaroni’s master’s degree. Pulse reported on 4 November that fans were congratulating the comedian on earning a master’s degree in acting from a London school.
Music
- Yedika named Apple Music Nigeria’s Up Next artist (Pulse, 5 November). Apple Music’s Up Next programme highlights emerging artists.

- Olamide commented on Yoruba culture and black soap on social media, according to Pulse on 4 November, in a story that generated a lot of reaction online.
Sport and celebrity

Leadership reported the pledge as $100,000 per player, redeemed 16 months after the tenth WAFCON triumph. The size of the rewards has been debated, and the Presidency has defended them, as ICIR has reported.

Where to follow Nigerian celebrity and entertainment news
No single outlet is perfect, so use a mix and cross-check big stories:
- Established news sites with entertainment sections: Pulse Nigeria, TVC News and The Culture Newspaper publish daily and usually name their sources.
- Gossip and lifestyle blogs: sites such as OloriSuperGal and Kemi Filani are popular and fast, but they can repeat social media claims, so verify anything dramatic.
- Official accounts: an artist’s verified Instagram, X or YouTube channel, or their label’s announcement, is the best proof for releases and tours.
- Streaming platforms: Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and Audiomack show new releases and charts. For films, see our guide to the best Nigerian movies and series to stream.
- Industry trends: our Nigerian pop culture trends for 2026 and skit makers guide cover what is shaping the scene.
How to check a celebrity rumour before you share it
- Look for the original source. Is there a statement from the person, their manager, family or a named official? A screenshot of a tweet is not proof.
- Check at least two reliable outlets. If only unknown pages report it, wait.
- Be extra careful with death reports. Death hoaxes about Nigerian celebrities are common. Wait for confirmation from family or a reputable outlet. Our guide to reliable entertainment updates and our 24 to 48 hour fact-checking workflow explain the method.
- Check the date. Old stories are often reposted as new.
- Look for edited images and fake accounts. Impersonation accounts often use the same photo and a slightly different handle.
- Do not click “giveaway” or “claim” links attached to celebrity names; they are often scams.
A note on privacy and respect
Celebrities are public figures, but their families, health, grief and children are not entertainment. When a story involves a death, a crime or a medical issue, wait for confirmation, avoid speculation, and think about the people reading it. Posts that mock someone’s loss often resurface and hurt the person who wrote them.
