If you sat the 2026 UTME, your result is already available and you can get it in under a minute from your phone. This guide shows the exact steps for each way of checking a JAMB result: the SMS shortcode, the result slip on the JAMB eFacility portal and your CAPS dashboard. It also explains what each SMS reply means, what to do when something goes wrong and what to do with your score next.
Where facts have changed during the year (for example the result slip fee and the admission deadlines), this page says what was reported and when, so you know what to confirm before you pay or act.
JAMB result 2026 at a glance
- Fastest method: text UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number you used for JAMB registration, with at least ₦50 airtime.
- Official slip: print it from efacility.jamb.gov.ng after logging in. Media reports in April put the fee at ₦1,500.
- Admission status: log in to your CAPS dashboard through the JAMB portal.
- Cut-off marks for 2026/27: 150 for universities and nursing colleges, 100 for polytechnics (announced 11 May 2026).
- Mop-up exam: held 13 June 2026 for candidates affected by technical or biometric problems. Results came out on 16 June.

How to check your JAMB result by SMS
SMS is the quickest route and works on any phone, even without data. Follow these steps exactly:
- Use the same SIM card (phone number) you used to register with JAMB. A different number will not work.
- Make sure you have at least ₦50 airtime.
- Open your messages and type UTMERESULT in capital letters, with no spaces.
- Send it to 55019 or 66019.
- Wait for the reply. Your score is sent back as a text message.
If you sent it from the wrong number, the reply says the phone number was not used for registration. Switch to the registered SIM and try again.
What the SMS reply can mean
Most candidates receive a score. Some receive a different message. JAMB replies have included a result withheld pending investigation, a note that the candidate was marked absent, a cancelled registration, or a warning about unauthorised access. A withheld result does not automatically mean you did something wrong. It can also follow a technical problem at an exam centre or a biometric mismatch. In that case you should follow JAMB’s instructions, keep your registration number and exam slip, and contact JAMB through its official support channels.
Never edit, forward or alter the official score message. JAMB has warned that faking or changing a result SMS is a serious crime, and has reported that candidates and a parent were taken into custody for using AI and other electronic tools to forge results.
How to print your JAMB original result slip
The SMS gives you your score. The original result slip is the document most schools ask for during post-UTME screening and admission. It carries your passport photograph, your scores, your national ranking and security features that institutions use to verify it.
When the slip was released
JAMB said on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 that the 2026 UTME original result slip was available for printing, after the mop-up results were published on 16 June. Some websites gave earlier dates, so rely on the JAMB statement and on what you see when you log in.
Steps to print the slip
- Go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng. This is the official portal. Be careful with look-alike sites.
- Log in with the email address and password you used for your JAMB profile.
- On the dashboard, choose Print Result Slip.
- Continue to payment. In April, Pulse.ng reported the fee as ₦1,500. Confirm the amount on the page before you pay, because fees can change.
- Select 2026 as the examination year and enter your JAMB registration number.
- Download the slip and print it. Check every detail straight away: name, date of birth, subject combination, scores and photograph.
JAMB advises candidates to keep several copies, because the slip is requested again during screening and admission. If you forgot your password or the email you registered with, use the Forgot Password option on the portal or visit a JAMB office with your registration details. Printing a duplicate or a lost slip is covered in a separate guide that we will publish shortly.

The 2026 UTME timeline you should know
Understanding the order of events helps you know which step you are on:
- 16 April 2026: the 2026 UTME begins. Results for the first day were released by SMS soon after. By 11 May, JAMB had released 1,897,692 results out of 2,243,761 registered candidates, according to Legit.ng.
- 11 May 2026: at a policy meeting in Abuja, JAMB announced the minimum admissible scores. Universities kept 150, polytechnics 100, and Colleges of Nursing 150.
- 13 June 2026: the mop-up examination for candidates who were verified but could not sit the exam, those whose results were withdrawn over infractions, and those with biometric problems. JAMB called it the final opportunity to sit the 2026 UTME.
- 16 June 2026: mop-up results released and ranking of candidates for admission begins.
- 17 June 2026: original result slip available for printing.
The reports we reviewed give different end dates for the main exam (25 and 29 April both appear), so we do not rely on a single end date here.
How to check your admission status on CAPS
Once schools start admitting candidates, your result decides whether you appear on a school’s list, but the offer itself shows up on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Log in to the JAMB portal with your profile, open your CAPS dashboard and look at your status.
- Accepting an offer lets you proceed to print your admission letter.
- Rejecting an offer returns your dashboard to “Not Admitted”.
- If you were admitted in the 2026 exercise, you can reject older pending offers without affecting your 2026 admission.
According to a Nairametrics report on 30 September 2026, JAMB extended the deadline to accept or reject outstanding offers from 2021 to 2025 to 30 November 2026. Offers left untouched revert to “Not Admitted” and a later update attracts a penalty fee. CAPS was also briefly shut on 24 September because of hosting problems and restored by 28 September. For the 2026 admission exercise, Premium Times reported that public universities must finish admissions by 31 October, private universities by 30 November and other tertiary institutions by 31 December, with a four-week grace period for candidates to accept or reject offers. For a full explanation of the admission process, read our guide to JAMB 2026 admission updates, cut-off marks and CAPS deadlines.
What to do with your score
If your score is above the cut-off
Remember that 150 and 100 are only the minimum admissible scores set for the year. Each school and each course sets its own, often higher, cut-off. Competitive courses such as Medicine, Law and Engineering at popular universities usually need far more than the minimum. Check the cut-off of your school and course, then prepare for post-UTME screening and document verification. Our university admission guide for 2026/27 covers practical next steps.
If your score is below your target
- Look at courses with lower cut-offs at the same school or similar courses at other schools.
- Consider polytechnics, colleges of education or nursing colleges, where the minimum is lower.
- Apply for a change of course or institution through your JAMB profile if the option is open.
- If none of these suits you, plan to sit the next UTME and start preparing early.
Do not pay anyone who offers to “upgrade” or “adjust” your score. JAMB scores cannot be bought, and those who sell them are scammers.

Common problems when checking a JAMB result
I did not get a reply to my SMS
Check that you used the registered SIM, that your airtime is at least ₦50, and that the message was typed exactly as UTMERESULT. Try the second shortcode, 66019, if 55019 does not respond. Network congestion can delay replies after a big release, so wait a while and try again later in the day.
My name, photo or score looks wrong
Do not ignore it. Print your slip, keep the screenshot of the SMS and take both to a JAMB office or contact JAMB support, with your registration number and exam centre details. A wrong subject, date of birth or name should be corrected before screening because it can affect admission and your NYSC records later.
My slip will not print or the payment failed
Do not pay twice. Retry later, confirm that the portal shows 2026 as the exam year, and keep your payment receipt. If money left your account and the slip did not generate, contact JAMB support with your payment reference.
I found a site that promises results or admission
Use only the official portals named by JAMB, such as efacility.jamb.gov.ng and portal.jamb.gov.ng. Be careful with sites that ask for your ATM details, ask you to pay for “direct admission” or promise to “increase your score”. If a site asks for a password, token or card PIN, close it.
