Key entertainment numbers for 6 November 2026

1. Funke Akindele’s The Four sells out London premiere

What happened: FilmOne Entertainment said on Thursday that every ticket for the UK premiere of The Four: No One Fights Alone on 29 November at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square has gone. Akindele said the venue holds 791 seats. The film opens in UK cinemas on 4 December and across Nigeria on 11 December. The cast includes Akindele, Waje, Chioma Akpotha, Bisola Aiyeola, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Lateef Adedimeji and Uzor Arukwe.

Why it matters: Leicester Square is where major Hollywood films hold their London premieres. Filling it shows the size of the diaspora audience for Nollywood, and Akindele’s last three December releases were among Nigeria’s biggest box-office hits, with Behind The Scenes the first Nollywood title past ₦2 billion.

2. 2Baba sets 27 November for first album in six years

What happened: Innocent Idibia, known as 2Baba, announced on Instagram that his new album Oldest Young Man will be released on 27 November 2026. It has 16 tracks; the full tracklist and featured artists have not been revealed. He described it as “timeless music, no expiration date”. His last studio album, Warriors, came out in February 2020 with guests including Burna Boy, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage.

Why it matters: 2Baba is one of the founding figures of modern Nigerian pop, and a full album from him is a notable event for fans who grew up on “African Queen”. It also lands in the busy December concert season, when many diaspora fans are home.

3. New in cinemas today: Loving Itohan and Cursed Desire

What happened: Two Nollywood titles open nationwide on Friday 6 November. Loving Itohan, a romantic drama directed by Orobosa Ikponmwen from Greoh Studios and NIP Studios, stars Nancy Isime and Uzor Arukwe and marks Isime’s debut as an executive producer; FilmOne is distributing. Cursed Desire, directed by Kayode Kasum and distributed by Nile Entertainment, stars Mike Afolarin, Majid Michel and Beverly Osu in a story of ambition and obsession about a fashion celebrity whose life is suddenly turned upside down.

Why it matters: Nigerian cinemas grossed ₦15.64 billion in 2025, up 28 per cent, with Nollywood taking almost half, and BusinessDay reports this year is projected to pass ₦20 billion. More actors moving into producing gives them more control over the stories, and the money, behind their films.

4. Nollywood heads to Malawi with Ikenga and a new actors’ body

What happened: The Film Association of Malawi (FAMA) says the Nigerian film Ikenga will premiere in Lilongwe on 26 November during the Malawi Film Awards and Gala at the Bingu International Convention Centre, with veterans Patience Ozokwor and Kanayo O. Kanayo expected to attend. On the same day, the Pan-African Actors Roundtable and Awards (PAARA), founded by former Actors Guild of Nigeria president Emeka Rollas, will hold its continental unveiling in Lilongwe during a creative economy forum running from 25 to 27 November. The AGN has pledged its support.

Why it matters: PAARA says it will push for actors’ welfare, fair pay and intellectual property protection across Africa. For Nollywood, deals like this open new markets beyond West Africa and the diaspora, although some Malawian commentators have asked how much the partnership will build their own industry.

Tiwa Savage’s Willis-produced “African Baddie”, released on 30 October, is still climbing playlists, and she also features on Ugandan singer Joshua Baraka’s “Commando”. Mayorkun dropped “Home Training”. Former BBNaija finalist Vee ended an almost five-year break from music with a new single, “Secret”.

Why it matters: Cross-border collaborations with American and East African artists continue to widen Afrobeats’ audience, and the pace of releases shows the industry gearing up for the festive season. For background on the global awards race, see our look at Nigerian Grammy hopefuls for 2027.
