Tottenham to take signing spree to record level with Junior Kroupi deal – transfer expert

Tottenham Hotspur have been backed to test Bournemouth’s resolve in their pursuit of Junior Kroupi as they continue plans to spend big.

Spurs have embarked on an unprecedented signing spree, having already parted with £237million already spent on six new signings, including the £100million arrival of Sandro Tonali.

However, they are showing no signs of slowing down any time soon, and are readying a big-money offer to tempt Bournemouth to part with their star forward.

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham are among a number of clubs keen to tempt Kroupi away from the Vitality Stadium this summer.

The 20-year-old enjoyed an outstanding season for Bournemouth last time out as he scored 13 goals in 33 Premier League appearances to fire his side into the Europa League.

Bournemouth are understandably reluctant to let their star player leave as a result, but there is a feeling their resolve could be tested, with Spurs prepared to make a move.

Could Tottenham make a move for Junior Kroupi?

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King told Football Insider on 8 July that Tottenham will have to make an excellent offer if they are to beat rivals to the signing of Kroupi.

The likes of Arsenal and notably Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing the Frenchman, and the Champions League winners are being tipped as the favourites.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, maintain that he is not for sale at any price, but Tottenham have proven they are willing to pay big money and could now test their resolve.

“It doesn’t come as a surprise that Kroupi is attracting interest from these top clubs,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Whenever a player like him comes to the Premier League and turns in the performances he was last year, and scores the number of goals, there will always been clubs keen.

“Tottenham need to sign a new striker, they’re not happy with their current options and that’s a big part of why they struggled last season.

“It’s going to take a lot of money to tempt Bournemouth to sell, but the way Tottenham have been operating this summer, I would expect them to see what they can do.

“They’ve spent so much money already, and it gets to a stage where you either keep going, or you slow down and look at future windows.

“But it’s so early in this current window, I can’t see them slowing down any time soon, especially when it comes to addressing key areas of the team with players like Kroupi.

“So it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they made a move for him. Whether it gets accepted or not, that’s the deciding factor and it will depend on Bournemouth.”

How does Kroupi feel about leaving Bournemouth?

Despite Bournemouth’s reluctance to sell Kroupi, there is a chance his head could be turned by the growing level of interest from elite clubs across Europe.

He is currently believed to be focused on maintaining his development with the Cherries ahead of their participation in the Europa League next season.

Football Insider revealed in April that Kroupi could be lured away from Bournemouth amid interest from the top clubs after seeing his previous teammates move on.

Should Bournemouth be convinced to accept an offer for his services, the forward would be open to the possibility of a switch this summer.

Tottenham’s interest may be the most advanced as things stand, but if Bournemouth open the door to potential offers, Europe’s elite clubs are primed to swoop.
