Tinubu congratulates Adeleke, says Osun victory assures democracy will flourish — Daily Nigerian

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in the Osun State governorship election, describing the victory as a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria.

The President said the outcome of the election had demonstrated the confidence reposed in Governor Adeleke by the people of Osun State, while urging the governor to use his renewed mandate to unite the people and pursue the development of the state.

President Tinubu, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said he had earlier called Governor Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory.

“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” the President said.

He wished Adeleke success as he prepares to lead the state for another four years, stressing the need for the governor to reach out to all residents irrespective of their political affiliations.

“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” Tinubu said.

The President also commended other candidates who participated in the election, particularly for what he described as the courage and discipline they displayed throughout the electoral process.

According to him, the participation of the various candidates contributed to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic culture.

“I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture,” he said.

Tinubu said the outcome of the election reflected the choice of the electorate, describing it as evidence that democratic governance would continue to take root and flourish in the country.

“The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” the President added.

The President also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for conducting the election, alongside the security agencies deployed for the exercise.

He described the election as peaceful and transparent, saying the process produced a clear winner.

The Osun governorship election was keenly contested by candidates of the major political parties, with Adeleke seeking a second term in office.

With the conclusion of the election, the President urged the governor-elect to focus on governance and the task of consolidating development in the state.
