Liverpool will consider making another move to sign Ismaila Sarr in January after failing to agree a deal before the summer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
Sarr was a target for the Reds throughout the transfer window after impressing for Crystal Palace over the last few seasons.
Andoni Iraola wanted to add quality and depth to his attacking ranks following Mo Salah’s departure.
Bradley Barcola arrived in a move worth £120million before the deadline, and they remained hot on the trail of Sarr but failed to get a deal done.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Sarr still wants to join Liverpool and he will stay on their radar in the months to come.
Liverpool’s plans could change before the January window, especially with Cody Gakpo still at the club after his move to Man City did not go through.
Liverpool still keen on Ismaila Sarr as January targets lined up
Sources exclusively revealed to Football Insider on Deadline Day that Sarr was pushing for a late move to Liverpool as he did not want to stay at Palace.
The Senegalese forward will now have to shake off his disappointment and go again, at least for another few months, as he could still end up on Merseyside after the turn of the year.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “(A deal for Sarr) could be done (in January), possibly. Obviously, Liverpool did try to get him before the deadline but Palace weren’t willing to let him go.
“Sarr’s representatives have hit out at that and over why he wasn’t granted his wish of making that move to Anfield.
“It was a big blow for Sarr to see that move fall down, and it’ll be key now for Palace to try and get him back onside and get him back performing to his best for them between now and the January window as well.”

Palace were reluctant to let Sarr leave so late in the window, and new boss Sage will be counting on him to fire his side to success this season.
The Eagles manager spoke to the media about the player’s situation and his future at the club on Thursday, saying: ” “He has to digest for sure because it’s a dream for a lot of players to play with this kind of club (Liverpool).
“He had a good opportunity but in the end it didn’t work. If he wants to continue, you have to have a good season with us as he did last year. We know he needs time. Like every bad situation, time does the job and we need time for that.”
