The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State on Sunday organised a rally and appreciation procession, known as “Kwara Ndupe,” across major parts of Ilorin to celebrate the successful conclusion of the party’s direct primary elections and rally support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event drew party leaders, candidates, supporters and members, with participants carrying banners displaying photographs of APC candidates expected to contest in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking to journalists during the procession, the Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Kwara State, Hon. Abdullateef Alakawa, said the rally was organised to express gratitude to God and the leadership of the APC for ensuring a successful and peaceful direct primary exercise.
According to him, the emergence of candidates across various elective positions reflected the wishes of party members and demonstrated the success of the primary election process.
Alakawa said the rally also served as an opportunity to mobilise supporters ahead of the general elections and reaffirm support for President Bola Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other APC candidates.
On concerns raised by aggrieved party members, he said the APC remained united and disclosed that reconciliation efforts were ongoing to strengthen party cohesion.
Also speaking, the APC candidate for Kwara North Senatorial District, Dr. Ahmad Muhammad, thanked party members and residents of the district for supporting his emergence during the primaries.
Similarly, the party’s candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District, Mr. Olalekan Adewoye, expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for giving him the opportunity to represent the APC in the election.
The Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Barrister Oba Magaji Abdulkadri, described the large turnout at the rally as evidence of the party’s unity and strength in the state.
He expressed confidence that the APC would perform strongly in future elections and retain its political dominance in Kwara State.
Abdulkadri also said the party would continue to focus on unity and work towards achieving its electoral objectives.
