Rwanda Police Caution Nigerian Creator For Filming on Roads

Rwanda’s police authorities have cautioned Nigerian content creator, Joe Bassey, after he shared a video of himself sitting on the road while filming content meant to highlight how clean streets are in Rwanda.

The clip, posted on X on Friday, showed him seated on the road as part of the demonstration.

Responding, Rwanda police while acknowledging the intent behind the video, warned that such actions breach safety rules.

Authorities stressed that regardless of purpose, occupying active roadways for content creation poses danger to both the individual and other road users.

The Rwanda police wrote, “Hello, While we appreciate the good intentions behind this clip, recording content in the roadway is unsafe and violates road safety regulations, as it puts road users at risk. For everyone’s safety, we advise that filming be done in safe areas. Thank you.”
