Tobi Amusan wins 100m hurdles at Paris Diamond League

Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan, reaffirmed her status as one of the world’s leading sprint hurdlers on Sunday, storming to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League with a season-best performance.

The Nigerian star and world record holder clocked an impressive 12.28 seconds at the Stade Charléty, finishing comfortably ahead of the field to secure another Diamond League triumph.

American hurdler Grace Stark came in second in 12.38 seconds, while compatriot Johnson settled for third place in 12.39 seconds.

The winning time matched Amusan’s season’s best, having also recorded 12.28 seconds at the Xiamen and Rabat Diamond League meetings earlier this year.

The Paris event was held under a revised and condensed schedule after a severe heatwave swept across France over the weekend, prompting organisers to cancel all lower-tier youth and regional club competitions.

Despite the challenging conditions and track temperatures that reached 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon, Amusan delivered another composed and dominant display.

The 29-year-old exploded out of the blocks and “executed a flawless technical race over the barriers, establishing a clear lead by the midway point and comfortably cruising through the tape.”

Her commanding victory in the French capital further underlines her growing momentum ahead of the Diamond League Final and sends a strong message to her rivals as the post-season circuit approaches.
