President Bola Tinubu has blamed the opposition for the hunger and poverty being experienced in Nigeria, insisting that his administration is working to address the challenges.
Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna, where he defended his administration’s performance and commended APC governors for their efforts.
“I hear my opponents talk about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did. They created poverty; they created hunger. We are trying to eradicate it. We pay salaries regularly. Our governors are working,” the president said.
His comments came amid continued public concerns over the cost of living and economic hardship affecting households across the country.
Tinubu maintained that his administration was making efforts to tackle hunger and poverty, while highlighting regular salary payments as part of his defence of the government’s performance.
He also praised APC governors, saying they were working to improve conditions in their respective states.
The president’s remarks formed part of his address to party supporters at the campaign flag-off, as the APC intensifies preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
