The All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee for the Rivers State House of Assembly has disowned a list circulating online that purportedly shows cleared and disqualified aspirants for the 2027 elections, describing it as false and unauthorised.
It was earlier reported that the committee had screened 98 aspirants, with claims that 65 alleged loyalists of Governor Siminalayi Fubara were disqualified, while 33 aspirants linked to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were cleared.
However, in a disclaimer issued on Monday and signed by the committee secretary, Hon. Tanko Yamowa, the party dismissed the publication in circulation as misleading and not originating from the committee.
The statement said the screening exercise chaired by Rt. Hon. Muraina Ajibola had only just been concluded, adding that no official list of successful or unsuccessful aspirants had been released.
βThe said publication is false, unauthorised, and does not emanate from the appropriate party authorities,β the committee stated, warning against attempts to create confusion within the party.
It further urged party members, aspirants, and the public to disregard the circulating list and await official communication through proper party channels.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness, and adherence to due process in the ongoing screening and primary election preparations ahead of the 2027 polls.
