How long can replacement batteries last?

I contacted a laptop battery seller recently and he told me that he has replacement and “follow come”. I believe the follow come should be the original but the price tag was out of my budget so I am planning to settle for the replacement battery. Now my question is are these replacement batteries reliable? How long can they last?
