Protests erupted in Burkina Faso in the dead of night, with demonstrators saying they were mobilising “to protect” President Captain Ibrahim Traoré following claims that external forces were attempting to overthrow him.

The protesters reportedly gathered around the presidential palace at around 1 a.m., underscoring heightened tension and growing public sensitivity around sovereignty, security, and foreign interference in the country.
