Former boss Enzo Maresca refused to play Estevao Willian on a consistent basis, citing the need to protect the 18-year-old.
Surprisingly, Estevao played regularly in a very physical Brazilian league at age 17, and we’ve seen Lamine Yamal do it at 16.
The story of Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace won’t be complete if you fail to mention Estevao. The first half was cagey, but the young Brazilian showed extraordinary pace and composure to score the opener in the 34th minute. One moment of individual brilliance gave Chelsea the momentum to go on and win. That’s what special players bring to the table.
Estevao is ready to shine, no need to hold him down.

The Future is Bright
Chelsea was so nice to day
Congratulations!!❤️
TRUE TALK.
This boy is something else 💎💎
This is what we need at Chelsea for now
Spot on 👍🏻👏
Maresca was slowing him down.
Not only him self. Same to Santos and Hato.
His favorite player was Gusto!
Maresca was an apology with respect to Estavao
In as much as I want to agree with you a great deal, I want you to also look at the weakness of the lad in terms of marking and Ball recovery. When we play against a team with deadly offensive wingers, you would expect the wingers to help out the full backs like we did against PSG and Barcelona. You see that game plans will favour some players over others based on what they will offer on the match day. Moreover, every registered player (26 I guess), deserves some playing time. What do you think about that?
