Enugu North by-election: BVAS glitch delays APC candidate’s accreditation amid high voter turnout

There was a large turnout of voters on Saturday at Iheaka Central School in Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State during the ongoing Enugu North Senatorial District by-election.

The polling unit, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, Mr. Ikeje Asogwa, is registered, recorded a steady influx of voters who came out to cast their ballots.

The exercise, however, experienced a brief setback after the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) failed to capture Asogwa despite several attempts by election officials, causing a temporary delay in his accreditation.

Despite the development, voting continued at the polling unit as electoral officials attended to voters and carried on with the accreditation and voting process.

Reacting to the incident, Asogwa expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of the BVAS device to capture his details, describing the situation as unacceptable.

Election officials were, however, making efforts to address the challenge while voting proceeded peacefully at the centre.
