Bodo/Glimt stun Inter at San Siro to seal historic 5–2 aggregate win

Bodo/Glimt produced one of the most stunning results of the UEFA Champions League season, defeating Inter 2–1 at the San Siro to seal a remarkable 5–2 aggregate victory and eliminate the Italian giants at the playoff stage.

Armed with a 3–1 first-leg advantage, Kjetil Knutsen’s side arrived in Milan brimming with confidence. Inter applied early pressure, dominating possession and probing for an opening, but the Norwegian champions remained disciplined and compact.

The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when Jens Petter Hauge reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area, firing past the goalkeeper to give Bodo/Glimt a 1–0 lead on the night. The goal stunned the home crowd and left Inter facing an even steeper task.

Bodo/Glimt struck again in the 72nd minute. Hakon Evjen latched onto a sublime lofted pass from Hauge and finished clinically into the bottom-left corner. At 2–0 on the night and 5–1 on aggregate, the tie was effectively decided.

Inter responded with urgency but not efficiency. Federico Dimarco and Davide Frattesi both missed clear opportunities, while Manuel Akanji struck the post in a moment that summed up the hosts’ frustration.

Alessandro Bastoni pulled one back in the 76th minute, bundling the ball home from close range, but it proved little more than consolation.

Goalkeeper Nikita Haikin was pivotal in preserving Bodo/Glimt’s advantage, producing a series of composed saves, including crucial interventions from Dimarco’s set-piece delivery and Francesco Pio Esposito’s header.

Despite dominating possession for long stretches, Inter lacked precision in the final third. Marcus Thuram’s late header drifting over the bar symbolised a night of missed chances for the former finalists.

At the final whistle, Bodo/Glimt celebrated a historic European triumph, knocking out one of Italy’s most decorated clubs with tactical discipline, resilience, and clinical finishing.
