
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.
Uzoka-Anite has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio under the current administration.
The President conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Profile of the Nominee
Until his nomination, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system.
The 50-year-old economist and public policy expert hails from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State. He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Corporate and Academic Experience
Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining the firm in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
Beyond corporate practice, he is a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and serves as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
His nomination is expected to strengthen ongoing fiscal and tax reform efforts as the administration seeks to stabilise public finances and boost revenue generation.
