The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in a series of operations targeting armed robbery, drug trafficking, and other crimes across the state.

PUNCH Metro learnt from a statement made available to journalists on Monday by spokesperson for the command, Shi’isu Adam, that the operation, which was carried out simultaneously across the state, resulted in the arrest of one wanted armed robbery suspect and nine other suspects, as well as the seizure of 7,028 illicit drugs, including rubber solution, “suck and die,” and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Adam added that seven suspected drug dealers and consumers were arrested. They include Nadabo Ibrahim (25) of Kwanar Garki; Alkassaim Sa’idu (27) of Acauya village, Sule Tankarkar LGA; Ibrahim Sambo (22) of Bitinariya Quarters, Hadejia LGA; Usman Abubakar (30) of Dunari Quarters; Aminu Muhd (25) of Dunari Quarters; Yusuf Sale (22) of Nassarawa Quarters; and Ibrahim Ismail (23) of Marakawa Quarters, Ringim LGA.

According to him, police operatives from B Division, Hadejia, during the raid, also recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle that had earlier been reported stolen from a complainant’s house in Rinde Quarters, Hadejia town.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect or suspects connected with the theft, while the recovered motorcycle has since been returned to its rightful owner on bond,” he said.

In another operation, Adam said operatives attached to the Malam-Madori Division recovered two cows suspected to have been rustled at the outskirts of Dunari Quarters.

“The suspects abandoned the cows and escaped into a nearby bush,” he added.

He disclosed that efforts had been intensified to trace the rightful owner of the cows, arrest those responsible for the rustling, and curb cattle-related crimes in the area.

The command further revealed that one Shu’aibu Musa, a wanted armed robbery suspect, was also arrested in connection with a camel theft, with a stolen camel recovered from him.

Adam said Musa had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for thorough investigation and prosecution.

In a related development, the police also arrested a suspected phone thief, Abdullahi Isyaku (20), and a receiver of stolen phones, Nasir Saleh (30), in Sundimina town.

“The suspects stole one Infinix Smart 10, one Tecno Camon 19, one Itel keypad phone, and N20,000 cash. The phones were sold for N61,000. The suspects have been arraigned in court, and the investigation has been completed,” Adam said.

The police spokesperson added that public support through timely and credible information remains vital in the fight against crime, urging residents of the state to redouble their efforts in this regard.
