Sifax hails visionary leaders behind new Gateway airport

The Chairman of Sifax Group, Dr Taiwo Afolabi, has commended President Bola Tinubu and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, over the successful construction and inauguration of the Gateway International Airport.

Afolabi described the project as a major milestone that would boost economic growth, attract investors and strengthen Ogun State’s position as a leading commercial and industrial hub.

Speaking during the inauguration of the project on Saturday, Afolabi said, “The inauguration of the airport and the launch of Gateway Air mark a significant step toward improving transportation, trade, and tourism across Ogun State.”

The Sifax boss noted that the new airport would ease the movement of people and goods while creating employment opportunities for residents, particularly youths.

According to him, “The project will create thousands of employment opportunities and open up the state to more business activities.”

He added that the airport, alongside its cargo terminal and other supporting facilities inaugurated by the President, would have far-reaching economic benefits across multiple sectors.

Afolabi said, “Sectors such as logistics, hospitality, aviation, agriculture, and real estate are expected to benefit immensely from this development.”

He further stated that the infrastructure would attract both local and international investors seeking opportunities in Ogun State.

The Sifax chairman also lauded Abiodun for his commitment to infrastructural development, describing his leadership as visionary.

He said, “The governor has consistently shown determination in executing projects that will have a lasting impact on the lives of the people.”

Afolabi added that the state government’s focus on roads, electricity, agriculture, security and transportation aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

President Tinubu visited Ogun State at the weekend to inaugurate the Gateway International Airport and unveil Gateway Air as part of the state’s development initiatives.

Other projects he inaugurated were the airport cargo facility, a 30-megawatt Independent Power Plant at Onijanganjangan near Ewekoro, major roads such as Ilishan-Iperu Road, Sagamu-Iperu-Ode Remo-Sapade Road, and the Gateway International Airport Road, as well as security vehicles, ambulances, tractors and electric bikes.

Afolabi stressed that the airport would enhance the ease of doing business and further boost Ogun State’s reputation as a preferred industrial destination.

He urged residents to safeguard the infrastructure, expressing optimism that the project would drive long-term prosperity, reduce unemployment and improve living standards across the state.
