The Progressive Youth Ambassadors on Thursday unveiled a grassroots sensitisation programme to promote public understanding of the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The pro-Tinubu group said the initiative is aimed at strengthening grassroots participation in policy execution and consolidating support for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the statement, the programme was unveiled at a summit held in Lagos and hosted by the Secretary to the Government of Lagos State, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin.
It added that the summit was chaired by the Chairperson of the Ogun–Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Dr Hafsat Oduwole-Balewa, and attended by youth leaders and political stakeholders.
The statement said the programme was themed “Strengthening Grassroots Participation in Progressive Policy Execution for the Sustained Realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda through Strategic Communication”.
Quoting the Board of Trustees Chairman, Mr Charles Olufemi, the statement said the summit was designed to prepare participants for grassroots advocacy across wards and local governments.
“Participants will return to their communities to educate citizens on the rationale behind the reforms of President Bola Tinubu and their short- and long-term benefits,” Olufemi was quoted as saying.
The statement listed key policies to include fuel subsidy removal, tax reforms, foreign exchange unification, civil service reforms, and financial system re-engineering.
Other policy areas highlighted include job creation initiatives, MSME support, agricultural revitalisation, digital economy expansion, student loan reforms, infrastructure development and social investment restructuring.
It noted that many reforms, in spite long-term benefits, are often misunderstood or politicised, making sustained grassroots engagement critical to public acceptance.
The statement quoted Olufemi as likening the reform process to surgery, noting that temporary discomfort would result in lasting healing and shared prosperity.
According to the statement, Salu-Hundeyin commended the youths for their commitment to progressive values and urged intensified grassroots mobilisation.
It said she encouraged participants to educate citizens on government efforts to address economic challenges and insecurity.
The statement also quoted Oduwole-Balewa as saying the administration’s policies were already attracting international investors back to Nigeria.
She noted that increased investments would generate employment, boost revenue and improve household livelihoods across communities.
The statement said she urged the youths to carry the sensitisation campaign to communities using local languages for wider reach.
It added that the programme was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, Amb. Bisoye Fagade.
The statement also noted the presence of Ibadan-born politician, Dr Adewale Kareem, at the summit.(NAN)
