Navy Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Katagum passes away


The Nigerian Navy has confirmed the death of its Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Musa Katagum.

Katagum, a respected senior officer and former Chief of Naval Intelligence, was known for his key role in the Navy’s recent operational successes.

His service was described as impactful and dedicated to strengthening national security.

Confirming his death, the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, said Katagum was a committed officer whose career was marked by exceptional professionalism and devotion to duty.

Folorunsho noted that the late Rear Admiral made invaluable contributions to naval operations and the protection of the nation.

“Throughout his distinguished service in the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Katagum demonstrated exemplary leadership, strategic insight and unwavering loyalty to the ideals and mission of the Nigerian Navy. His legacy will remain a source of inspiration to all personnel across the services.

“The Nigerian Navy extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and associates during this difficult time. Rear Admiral Katagum passed away following a protracted illness and has since been buried according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
