Nanya’s D+ath: The Claims Of Non-Availability Of Anti-Venom Are Unfounded — FMC Jabi Breaks Silence

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja, has addressed the circulating discussions on social media regarding the tragic d+ath of Ms. Ifunanya Lucy Nwagene, popularly known as Nanya, who passed away on January 31, 2026, due to neurotoxic complications following a snake bite.

In a statement released on February 1, 2026, the hospital management dismissed allegations that anti-snake venom was unavailable when she was brought in for treatment.

According to FMC Jabi, medical personnel attended to Nanya promptly upon arrival and provided immediate care, including resuscitation efforts, intravenous fluids, intranasal oxygen, and administration of polyvalent snake antivenom.

The hospital explained that after a rapid assessment, it was discovered that she had developed severe neurotoxic complications from the bite. While preparations were being made to transfer her to the Intensive Care Unit for further management, her condition suddenly deteriorated.

Despite administering CPR and other emergency life-saving procedures, she could not be revived.FMC Jabi stressed that claims of non-availability of anti-venom and inadequate response are unfounded, highlighting the professionalism and swift action of its medical team.
