Keith Wyness: FSG will have noticed what Liverpool fans did to Arne Slot, 'the hatchets are out'

Liverpool supporters have turned against manager Arne Slot following their 1-1 draw against Tottenham.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Slot is now facing the sack at Liverpool.

The Reds put in another underwhelming performance this season under Slot’s leadership against Spurs, with Dominik Szoboszlai’s first half free-kick cancelled out by Richarlison’s 90th minute equaliser.

Champions League qualification hangs in the balance for Liverpool, who could sack Slot at the end of the season after failing to defend their Premier League title this season.

Arne Slot ‘hasn’t helped himself’ at Liverpool

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks Liverpool’s ownership will know all about the fan bases anger towards Slot.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness states it that was a “big rarity” for Liverpool to be booed off after the draw with Spurs, which was not good news for the manager.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, look, I think he hasn’t helped himself. We saw sort of a blip in form when they seemed to be coming back.

“Things seemed to be settling down, but they got booed off, which at Anfield is a big rarity for that to happen. It’s been a long time, I think, since that’s happened.

“And that’s a big sign of fan displeasure, and it will not be lost on Fenway Sports. So I think that, yes, I think the hatchets are out for Arne.”

Yan Diomande concern emerges amid transfer speculation

Wyness told Football Insider that RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande may not be the player to replace Mohamed Salah at the club.

Salah is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season amid links to Saudi Arabia, with Diomande a target to replace the 33-year-old.

19-year-old Diomande has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the Bundesliga, with the forward having scored 10 goals and registered five assists.
