Chuck Norris, born Carlos Ray Norris, the iconic American martial artist and Hollywood action star widely known for his role in Walker, Texas Ranger, has died at the age of 86.

His family confirmed the news on Friday, describing his passing as sudden.

“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning,” the family said in a statement shared on Instagram.

“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family.”

The statement continued: “He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.” It ended.

Born on March 10, 1940, Norris served in the United States Air Force before becoming a celebrated martial artist.

He held black belts in Karate, Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and judo, and later founded his own discipline, Chun Kuk Do.

His remarkable skills led him to win numerous martial arts championships and cemented his place in global pop culture.

Norris transitioned to Hollywood, starring in a string of action hits including Way of the Dragon alongside Bruce Lee, Missing in Action, and The Delta Force.

On television, he became a household name as Cordell Walker in Walker, Texas Ranger, a series that ran from 1993 to 2001 and remains beloved by fans.

Until 2006, Norris continued leading action films, with his last major film appearance in The Expendables 2 (2012).

Off-screen, he became a cultural icon, known for his discipline, faith, and, in later years, the legendary “Chuck Norris Facts” that celebrated his toughness and larger-than-life persona.
