“Here we go” – Fabrizio Romano confirms controversial Chelsea transfer

Aaron Anselmino will join Strasbourg on loan for the remainder of the season according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea signed Anselmino from Boca Juniors in the summer of 2024, and he made his debut for the Blues at the Club World Cup last summer.

The decision was taken to send him on loan to Borussia Dortmund for the season, and Anselmino had put in some impressive performances in Germany.

However, Chelsea cut the loan short and recalled Anselmino ,and the 20-year-old was seen in tears as he said goodbye to his Dortmund team mates.

Chelsea’s plan appears to have been to send Anselmino to Strasbourg as a replacement for Mamadou Sarr, but the Argentine reportedly wasn’t keen on the move.

Anselmino made his debut at the Club World Cup.

It now seems there’s been a change of heart, and Romano has confirmed Anselmino will spend the rest of the season in Ligue 1.

He took to X.com and said:

“Aaron Anselmino to RC Strasbourg, here we go!

“Deal in place over loan until the end of the season.

“Argentinian defender was never gonna return to Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea pick RC Strasbourg as best solution.

“Formal steps to follow.”

He only made ten appearances for Dortmund due to injury, and it will be interesting to see how he does in France.

Chelsea still trying to sign Jeremy Jacquet

With it looking like Sarr could return to Chelsea, the Blues are still trying to agree a deal for Jeremy Jacquet with Rennes.

Chelsea have made Jacquet their primary centre back target, but are yet to make an offer for the France under-21 international.

Rennes are said to want £60m and only want to sell in the summer, but would be prepared to agree a deal in this window.

Liverpool are also interested, and it will be interesting to see what happens before Monday’s 7pm deadline.
