Chairman Senate Committee on Airforce, Sen. Osita Ngwu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of his distinguished colleague, representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Senator Barry Mpigi.
Ngwu in a condolence message, said Mpigi was a committed lawmaker, a patriotic Nigerian, and a man of honour who devoted his time and energy to the service of his constituents and growth of democratic governance in Nigeria.
According to him, the late senator’s contributions to legislative debates, oversight functions, and constituency development initiatives reflected his passion for people-centered leadership and national progress.
“Sen. Mpigi was a bridge-builder and a voice of reason whose counsel and experience enriched our work in the Senate. His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill,” Ngwu stated.
The lawmaker extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, his constituents, Rivers State Government and colleagues in the National Assembly, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
