The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is witnessing another pivotal moment in its ongoing leadership struggle as National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, along with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, arrived at the Court of Appeal, Abuja on Monday.
They were accompanied by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) for a scheduled appeal hearing concerning the party’s leadership status.
The PDP has been embroiled in a prolonged power tussle between factions loyal to some PDP governors and those aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike.
The dispute has escalated into a full-blown crisis, leading to police sealing of the party’s national secretariat, mutual expulsions between rival camps, and the dissolution of state chapters controlled by opposing factions.
The Court of Appeal is expected to provide clarity on the party’s leadership ahead of key political activities, including the upcoming PDP national convention.
