‘Fabian Hurzeler to get sacked’ after ‘disgusting’ Brighton development

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has been slammed by the fanbase for a decision he made against Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace beat Brighton 1-0 courtesy of a second half Ismaila Sarr goal, which lifts them above Hurzeler’s side in the Premier League table.

The defeat extends Brighton‘s winless run in the Premier League to five games, and with just an eight-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Hurzeler’s position as manager has come in for questioning from the fanbase recently due to their poor run of form, with many wanting the club to be challenging in the top half of the table.

Georginio Rutter blasted for ‘useless’ display

Brighton struggled to create many clear-cut opportunities against Crystal Palace, with just two shots on target throughout the 90 minutes.

Hurzeler opted to wait until the 71st minute, and after Sarr’s goal, before making a triple change to his side in search of an equaliser.

Georginio Rutter survived until the 81st minute before being brought off, with many fans believing it was a criminal decision by Hurzeler not to substitute the forward off earlier.

Rutter had just one shot, three touches in the opposition box, committed five fouls, and won zero aerial duels during his time on the pitch.

His performance left fans wondering why he was allowed to stay on the pitch for so long, with one claiming it was “one of the worst individual performances‘ of all time.

Championship manager could replace Fabian Hurzeler

With Hurzeler’s position as manager becoming more precarious, contenders have started to emerge to replace the 32-year-old at the Amex.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is among the favourites for the Brighton job, if Hurzeler is sacked by the club.

McKenna has led Ipswich to Premier League promotion, and the former Manchester United coach has the club in a position to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking this season.

Ipswich beat Derby 2-1 to remain just four points off automatic promotion in the Championship table, and McKenna’s side are in a strong position to make the play-offs.

The Tractor Boys are seven points above Wrexham who currently occupy the final play-off spot, and whom they play next in the Championship.
