DISCLAIMER: The Guardian warns public over fake Dangote crypto advert

The Guardian Nigeria has issued an urgent warning over a fraudulent advertisement circulating online that falsely uses the name of businessman Aliko Dangote and The Guardian’s logo to promote a cryptocurrency scheme.
The advert, titled “Instant 9.3 CrypPro,” claims that an investment of ₦380,000 can generate ₦5 million per week in guaranteed returns.

The Guardian described the claims as “mathematically impossible” and confirmed that neither Aliko Dangote nor the newspaper has any affiliation with the platform.

In its official disclaimer, The Guardian noted several red flags: the website address shown in the advert is not linked to the newspaper, the advert contains spelling errors such as “PER WEAK” instead of “PER WEEK,” and the promises of high, guaranteed income are classic signs of a scam.

The newspaper urged the public: “Do not click on any links, provide personal information, or transfer funds to this entity. Engaging with this site puts you at high risk of financial loss and identity theft. Always verify investment opportunities through the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria or other official financial regulatory bodies.”

The Guardian continues to monitor the situation and encourages readers to report any suspicious investment advertisements to the newspaper or the authorities.
