
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved fresh appointments and promotions, noting the move is part of efforts to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery across key sectors of the state.
The approvals were disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, Abdulkadir Balarabe Kankarofi (Alhajiji) has been appointed Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the Executive Governor.
He previously served as the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol I to the governor.
Also appointed is Hajia Aisha Tamburawa, who will now serve as Special Adviser to the Governor on Positive Propaganda.
Before this appointment, she was a Supervisory Councillor in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.
In the water sector, Engr. Mukhtar Yusuf has been promoted to Managing Director of the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency (WRECA), having earlier held the position of Deputy Managing Director.
Meanwhile, Zakari Usman Balan has been appointed as the new Deputy Managing Director of the agency.
The governor also approved the appointment of Dr Mukhtar Bello Maisudan, a senior lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, as Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board.
Similarly, Engr. Abba Kankarofi has been elevated to Managing Director of the Kano Road and Maintenance Agency (KARMA), following his previous role as Deputy Managing Director.
In another development, Hon. Musayyib Kawu Ungoggo was appointed Managing Director of the Kano Zoological Garden.
Ungoggo has previously served in various political roles, including as a Councillor and Senior Special Reporter.
Governor Yusuf urged all newly appointed and promoted officials to justify the trust placed in them by demonstrating dedication, transparency, and commitment to the welfare of the people of Kano State.
He reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to strengthening public institutions and delivering people-focused governance in line with the Kano First Agenda.
