The Kano State Stakeholders Forum of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has suspended the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Kano Axis, Comrade Yunus Sulaiman Halliru, indefinitely over alleged misconduct.
The decision was contained in a disciplinary resolution issued by the NANS Kano Axis Stakeholders Forum on January 18, 2026.
According to the document, the stakeholders reviewed allegations linked to events surrounding the NANS Dutse Convention 2026.
The allegations include abuse of office, disregard for stakeholders, dereliction of duty, breach of ethical standards, and actions said to be harmful to the integrity and reputation of NANS.
“In the interest of accountability and due process, the stakeholders resolved that Comr. Yunus Sulaiman Halliru is hereby suspended indefinitely as Chairman of JCC Kano Axis,” the resolution stated.
The stakeholders also announced that the Vice Chairman, Comrade Usman Abu Sufyan,v“shall immediately assume office as acting chairman to ensure continuity of leadership.”
To further address the matter, the forum said a disciplinary and fact-finding panel has been set up to investigate the allegations and make recommendations.
The panel is chaired by Comrade Ahmad Mallawa, Vice President, Special Duties, NANS, alongside other members.
The stakeholders stressed that the “suspension is an interim measure and not a declaration of guilt.”
The forum added that it remains committed to constitutionalism, discipline, transparency, and fair hearing.
