Guardiola Warns Players Against Weight Gain After Christmas Break

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has issued a stern warning to his players ahead of the Christmas break, making it clear that returning out of shape will not be tolerated.

Speaking on the club’s fitness standards, Guardiola revealed that the squad is closely monitored before and after the holidays.

According to him, every player is weighed, and any significant weight gain could have serious consequences.

“Yesterday we weighed all the players, and after Christmas, I’ll be there checking how many pounds they gained,” Guardiola said.

“They come back heavier. They can eat, but I’ll control it.”

The City boss stressed that professionalism must be maintained even during the festive period, adding that players who return overweight risk being left behind.

He warned that a player who is in perfect condition before the break but comes back 6.5 pounds heavier would not be selected.

“Imagine a player who’s in perfect shape comes back 6.5 pounds heavier, he’ll stay in Manchester and won’t be called up,” Guardiola said.

Known for his meticulous attention to details, Guardiola’s comments underline his insistence on discipline and peak physical condition, reinforcing that there will be no holiday excuses at Manchester City.
