Gov Soludo with the clarion call! Anambra youths should join the police and military 🫡

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has urged youths in the South-East to enlist in the Nigerian Army, police and other security agencies, stressing that the Nigerian Civil War ended 56 years ago and should no longer be used to justify v+olence.

Soludo spoke on Wednesday at Ekwueme Square, Awka, during the wreath-laying and parade to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

He said the civil war officially ended on January 15, 1970, and called on Igbo youths to move forward and actively participate in national development.

“We cannot continue to f+ght a civil war that ended 56 years ago by hiding in the bushes and k#lling ourselves,” the governor said. “January 15 marked the official end of the civil war, and that chapter of our history must remain closed.”

Calling on youths to see themselves as stakeholders in Nigeria, Soludo encouraged them to take up careers in the security sector.

“If you do not join the police or the army in the next 15 years, you will be complaining about the absence of senior military officers from your region,” he said. “I urge you to express interest in serving Nigeria.”

He also appealed to youths who claim to be fighting for Biafra to abandon v+olence and embrace reintegration. “Human beings do not live in the bush. We appeal to you to come out and participate meaningfully in building the state and this country,” Soludo said.

The governor explained that Armed Forces Remembrance Day honours Nigerian heroes who died defending the country’s unity and serves as a reminder to say “never again” to w+r. “Their supreme sacrifice shall not be in vain,” he added, while commending security personnel for improving safety in Anambra.

Soludo noted that improved security led to peaceful Christmas celebrations across the state and disclosed that eight local government areas previously affected by crime had been reclaimed.

He also praised President Bola Tinubu for efforts to tackle insecurity nationwide, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration among security agencies would yield lasting results.
