Cammy Devlin is still settling into life at Rangers, and that will taking a little bit longer at Ibrox after suffering a new injury blow.
The 28-year-old midfielder has started four of the Gers’ seven Scottish Premiership matches since signing from Hearts in the summer.
He’s appeared as a substitute in another two matches, including the most recent 1-0 win over Old Firm rivals Celtic, which forced Martin O’Neill to question his future.
Rangers are still two points behind the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership table, though, so Derek McInnes will be hoping for no further blows following the international break.
McInnes has confirmed that all other players have returned from international duty without a hitch ahead of the clash with Kilmarnock on Saturday, 10 October.
Devlin, however, could be sidelined for the next six weeks after picking up a hamstring strain. Luckily, he hasn’t needed surgery on the new setback.
Cammy Devlin set to miss six weeks
Despite being knocked out of the Europa Conference League very early on, the Gers still have a lot to compete for in terms of silverware.
McInnes will feel that after such a strong start, the Scottish Premiership title is a must, while winning other domestic cups will keep the fans onside.
His team will have to do it without Devlin in the middle of the park, though, with Football Insider looking at which games he is likely to miss.
October
– 10 October: Scottish Premiership, Kilmarnock (H)
– 17 October: Scottish Premiership, Dundee (A)
– 24 October: Scottish Premiership, St Johnstone (H)
– 28 October: Scottish Premiership, Hearts (A)
– 31 October: Scottish League Cup, Aberdeen (H)
November
– 7 November: Scottish Premiership, St Mirren (A)
– 21 November: Scottish Premiership, Motherwell (A)
A two-week break in November could help him return before the away clash against Motherwell, but McInnes may not want to force him back.
Can Rangers win the Scottish Premiership?
Rangers have won just one of the last 13 Scottish Premiership titles, but that doesn’t stop the supporters from coming with the same confidence every year.
O’Neill and Celtic currently appear to be in a rough patch, so now would be the perfect time for the Light Blues to build up a lead at the top of the table.
Right now, Opta’s supercomputer have given Rangers a 39.61 per cent chance of winning the title, with the Hoops still the favourites.
The Gers are expected to finish two points behind their Old Firm rivals, but that could quickly change with a good result against Kilmarnock.
