Juventus’ summer window has entered a busier stretch, with movement reportedly brewing across multiple positions at once. The goalkeeper search continues to dominate headlines, but there’s also traffic in midfield — both incoming and outgoing — as the club looks to reshape the roster within its financial constraints.
With that in mind, let’s check out what the rumor mill has to say on three fronts: a potential path to a goalkeeper solution, a South American midfielder reportedly drawn to Turin, and a departure that could clear the way for a different midfield addition.
Zion Suzuki, By Way of PSG
Goalkeeper remains one of the top focuses of the Juventus technical staff, according to recent reports. The most recent focus, is Japanese international Zion Suzuki. The Bianconeri are the primary focus for Suzuki, although his current price tag is allegedly up to €40 million. Juve coach Luciano Spalletti sees that price tag as being “prohibitively expensive” for the Italian club, which could put the whole operation into question.
While Juve have been negotiating, it seems clear that PSG have entered the discussions, and recent reports are suggesting that the Parisian club have submitted a new bid of €35 million. Despite signing a keeper in each of the last two summers, PSG seem intent to bring Suzuki into the fold. According to multiple sources — including L’Equipe and Fabrizio Romano — PSG would look to alleviate any roster problems by immediately loaning Suzuki to Juve for the upcoming season. None of these rumors are suggesting a deal for either team is necessarily close, but Juve’s interest despite the price tag would suggest they may be open to a loan.
Two Midfield Situations to Watch
While chief executive Giovanni Carnevali and company try to find a solution on a budget to the goalkeeping woes, they’re also looking to strengthen the midfield. Recent reports have connected Juventus to River Plate and Paraguay midfielder Matias Galarza, whose contract runs out in December 2028. According to Galarza’s agent, they’re evaluating “three or four offers,” the strongest of which comes from Italy. While it hasn’t been confirmed, reports are suggesting the Italian team is Juventus, who also faces competition from Sunderland.
The Paraguayan midfielder is capable of playing mulitple roles in the midfield, playing on the left side in each of the four matches he started at the World Cup. At the club level, he mostly played centrally while on loan with Atlanta United – covering both central and defensive midfield positions. While such a player is unlikely to come in and start, he would certainly add some welcomed depth given his versatility and tenacity.
Sticking in the midfield, it seems that Teun Koopmeiners is no longer wanted by Luciano Spalletti with the Italian coach placing the Dutch midfielder on the list of sellable players. The problem, however, is that Koopmeiners still has a book value around €31 million making any outright transfer unlikely due to price. Instead, it seems the club is looking to loan him — likely to a club in Serie A — for the next year, with reports suggesting the technical staff would be open to including an option to buy for no less than €21 million.
According to those same reports, the goal of the loan would be freeing space in the wage bill to make room for Franck Kessié. Koopmeiners currently costs Juve around €16 million accounting for both amortisation and salary. Kessié, meanwhile, would come onto the books under €10 million gross, annually. Such a move would provide some financial ease while providing the coach with a target he’s been connected to throughout his career.
Taken together, these three situations paint a picture of a Juventus front office trying to build creatively rather than simply outspend its problems. Suzuki’s fee has moved throughout the summer and a loan through PSG may end up being the mechanism that gets a deal over the line. Galarza represents a lower-cost, versatile addition should Juventus win out over their competition. And the Koopmeiners situation shows the club using outgoing moves to fund incoming ones, rather than relying on fresh spending alone. None of these deals appear close to being finalized, but each is worth tracking as the summer transfer window enters its final stretch.
