
A Jos Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday sentenced a 22-year-old trader, Nanzing Solomon, to one year in prison for stealing a phone.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of theft brought against him by the Police.
The magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict to one year in prison with an option of a N50,000 fine.
While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on June 17 at the Laranto Police Station by the complainant, Julius Friday.
Mr Gokwat said the convict stole the phone, but it was recovered from him during the police investigation.
He said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
