Anambra govt apprehend Pastor accused of snatching 75 married women from husbands

The Anambra State Government has confirmed the arrest of Pastor Harrison Charles, the founder of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, over serious allegations linked to his church activities.

He is accused of allegedly taking married women from their husbands and involving some church members in what some victims described as forced swapping of wives within the church setting.

The claims have caused strong reactions in the area, with many residents expressing shock over the allegations.

Reports say the arrest is part of the state government’s ongoing action against what it calls fake pastors and harmful religious practices.

The crackdown has already led to the prosecution of several other religious leaders in the state in recent months.

Authorities also say more investigations are ongoing, as more people have reportedly come forward with similar complaints about their experiences in the church.

The government insists the enforcement is aimed at protecting residents from exploitation and abuse in the name of religion.

Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Media, Dr Ejimofor Opara, confirmed Harrison’s arrest in a Facebook post.

He said the clergyman has been handed over to the police, adding that a joint investigation between the Anambra State Police Command and the state government has commenced.

Ejimofor called on anyone with information on the pastor’s activities to report to the state government.

He said: “Pastor Harrison Charles, owner of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, was arrested by operatives of Agunechemba following a viral video containing several allegations against him.

“He is currently being investigated by the police, in collaboration with the Anambra State Government.

“During his arrest, about eleven babies were found in his home. He claims to be the father of these eleven babies, stating they are from eleven of his wives.

“He also claims he does not know the number of wives he has married or the total number of children he has.

“While investigations continue, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, has urged anyone with additional information to report it to the State Government via 08034182108.
