The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
In a condolence message shared on Facebook on Friday, Ribadu described the late matriarch as a caring figure with whom he shared fond personal memories. He noted that her passing represents a profound loss to the family.
“Inna lilLahi wa inna illahir raji’un. I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the matriarch of the El-Rufai family. I have fond memories of shared moments with her and her motherly care. At a time like this, words can offer little comfort for such a profound loss,” he wrote.
He extended his condolences to El-Rufai and the entire family, praying for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and strength for those she left behind.
The death of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai was earlier announced by a family member, who described her as a devoted mother and prayed for the repose of her soul. Details surrounding her passing were not immediately disclosed.
Her death comes at a time when the former governor is facing ongoing legal proceedings, including charges filed by the Federal Government before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of unlawful interception of communications involving Ribadu.
