England will aim to make it all the way to the final at the 2026 World Cup taking place across the United States, Canada and Mexico
Everything you need to know about England at the 2026 World Cup
- England vs Croatia: Wednesday, June 17, at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas. Kick-off is set for 9pm UK time (ITV).
- England vs Ghana: Tuesday, June 23, at Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts. Kick-off is set for 9pm UK time (BBC).
- Panama vs England: Saturday, June 27, at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey. Kick-off is set for 10pm UK time (ITV).
- How can England qualify for the knockout rounds?: England will play all three of their opening matches in the United States. Due to the expanded format, they must finish in the top two of their group or be among the eight best third-placed teams to reach the new Round of 32.
- Potential route to the final: The knockout stage path depends entirely on England’s final standing in Group L. Winning the group offers a theoretically ‘smoother’ bracket but involves significant travel between the US and Mexico.
- Round of 32 (if Group L winners): This will be on July 1 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. They would face a third-placed team from Group E, H, I, J, or K.
- Round of 16: July 5 at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. This could potentially set up a massive clash against co-hosts Mexico.
- Quarter-final: July 11 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. If other results work out, this could potentially mean a high-stakes meeting with Brazil.
- Semi-final: This would be on July 15 back at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. This could be a repeat of recent deep-tournament runs, potentially facing Argentina.
- The final: The final match is on Sunday, July 19 at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey. Kick-off for the showpiece event is scheduled for 8pm UK time.
- Other options: If England finishes as runners-up in Group L, their journey would instead begin in Toronto, Canada, on July 3, potentially leading to a difficult Round of 16 encounter against Spain in Arlington. Regardless of the route, the squad will be based at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City throughout the tournament.
