Eid al-Fitr: Edo deputy governor urges peace, unity

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has called for unity and peace as Muslim faithful celebrate Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor described Eid al-Fitr as a profound spiritual milestone that embodies the virtues of sacrifice, discipline, compassion and devotion to Allah.

Idahosa noted that the Ramadan period provided an opportunity for deep reflection, renewed faith and a strengthened commitment to the values of peace, tolerance and unity.

He urged Muslims to sustain the lessons and spirit of the holy month by continuing to promote love, charity and peaceful coexistence, stressing that these principles are critical to fostering harmony and driving the collective progress of the state and the nation.

“I must commend the Muslim community in Edo State for their continued prayers for peace, stability and development, as such efforts play a vital role in building a more inclusive and prosperous society.

“I also use this opportunity to call for sustained peace and unity,” he said.

While wishing Muslims a joyous celebration, Idahosa urged all residents to celebrate responsibly and adhere to public safety guidelines during the festive period.

He also wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and fulfilling Eid al-Fitr celebration.
