Tottenham to accelerate summer deal for Omar Marmoush as major injury blow emerges

Omar Marmoush could switch Man City for Tottenham in the summer as Thomas Frank’s desperation for attacking reinforcements grows.

Tottenham have long been linked with Marmoush, with the North London club creating a shortlist ahead of the next transfer window, and he is firmly on it.

The Egyptian has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola obviously preferring Erling Haaland through the middle, and that could open the door for a big-money move.

Although Dominic Solanke has returned from injury, Richarlison has been sidelined again, and so too has Mohammed Kudus, while Randal Kolo Muani has failed to hit the ground running.

Samu Aghehowa suffers season-ending blow at Porto

The Lilywhites’ struggles all over the pitch are evident, with the team currently sitting 16th in the Premier League table, just five points above the dropzone with 12 games remaining.

Frank is under tremendous pressure at Tottenham, but should he still be in charge ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, he will be desperate for the new owners to back him in the summer window.

However, one of Spurs’ main targets for the forward line may no longer be available, or at least, will be completely devoid of match fitness once the next campaign begins.

Football Insider understands that Tottenham are one club interested in Samu Aghehowa of Porto, but it has now emerged that the talented forward has torn his ACL and is likely to miss the World Cup.

Omar Marmoush would hit the ground running at Tottenham

The Lilywhites need a player who can hit the ground running in the Premier League, rather than waiting for a young star to get back to speed, and it is no guarantee that he hits similar heights upon returning.

With 47 goals in his first 77 games since signing for Porto, there is absolutely no doubt that the 21-year-old is talented, with nine of those efforts coming in the Europa League.

But Marmoush is a much more sensible choice for the Premier League strugglers. He is likely to come at a similar price, but with eight league goals as Haaland’s understudy, it seems like a no-brainer.

There are likely to be other options that Frank’s staff are scouting ahead of the summer, but a switch across England could be the smartest choice given the situation.
