Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle has opened up on forward Ademola Lookman’s display for Nigeria during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
Chelle praised Lookman’s exceptional contributions in the group stages but noted a decline in form during the quarter-finals.
“He [Lookman] was very good throughout the group phase, so exceptional,” Chelle stated in an interview with RMC Sport’s After Foot.
“However, in the quarter-finals, it is true he started to falter a bit; physically, he is good, but it’s true we felt he was tired.”
Following the AFCON tournament, Lookman made a significant transfer, moving from Atalanta to Atlético Madrid in January.
