She Stopped Greeting Me After I Advised Her to Leave Him— Landlady talks about Victim of Domestic Violence

More details have continued to emerge following the d+ath of Olumma Chizoba Lucy Akataobi, a 29-year-old mother of two who reportedly d+ed on Monday, February 2.

Ollumma’s sister, Ezinne Onyedikachi Brenda Akataobi, has accused her husband, Kelechi Prince Okeke, of beating her to death after a disagreement over ₦35,000 paid by a customer into the husband’s bank account. According to Ezinne, the argument began when Ollumma asked her husband to release the money.

The husband has denied the allegation, claiming that his wife was eating when she suddenly screamed “my chest, my chest,” vomited, and collapsed.

Ezinne has disputed this account, insisting that her sister was healthy earlier that day. She said Ollumma had spent time with their mother and later went to the market to carry out her business without showing any signs of illness.

According to Ezinne, neighbours said they heard the couple quarrelling shortly before Ollumma’s d+ath. She also shared a voice note allegedly from a neighbour who claimed she had just returned from church and was too tired to intervene when she heard the argument.

As the family shared details of the incident online, a woman identified as Joy Maurice commented, claiming she was a former landlady to Kelechi when he was still dating Ollumma.

Joy Maurice alleged that Kelechi repeatedly b+at Ollumma during their relationship whenever she visited him. She said she warned Ollumma to leave him because of the abuse, but the advice strained their relationship.

“She stopped greeting me after I advised her to leave him,” the former landlady claimed, adding that she eventually issued Kelechi a quit notice due to his behaviour.

The d+ath of Ollumma has sparked public concern, with family members and members of the community calling on authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
