I think it does. Christians will agree with this because there are many cases of it in the Bible. “Jabez” is one typical example . “Goodluck” Jonathan and “Asiwaju” Bola Ahmed Tinubu are two good practical examples in our present generation. Although here in Africa we tend to attach meaning/read meaning to everything based on our religious backgrounds. Take a look at Hazard currently at Real Madrid for example. Has anything evil befall him? Although some may argue especially as Nigerians/Africans that he is being tormented by injuries upon injuries which has rendered him useless at Madrid. But can we attribute it to his name? He was doing excellently well while at Chelsea and bearing same name so his present condition does not have any link with his name afterall he is not the only player struggling with injuries. It is a very common thing in football. Although Hazard may have a different interpretation in Belgium, it may not be what we think. I don’t think any English man for example will name his child “Hazard”.Â
