A group under the aegis of the Daura Concerned Citizens, have frowned at the touted endorsement of Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina state for the 2027 governorship election, saying they are unaware of the deal.
Some All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Daura had on Monday endorsed Governor Umar Radda for the epic governorship contest.
However, at a press conference in Daura, Tuesday, the Concerned Citizens said they were not part of the said endorsement.
Convener of the of the forum who was a former national chairman Accord Party, Hon, Lawal Nalado said “it is wrong for 30 people to gather inside an air condition hall and speak on behalf of more than one million people.”
The endorsement was done based on selfish interest and without the consent or acceptance of the majority of Daura citizens,” Nalado stated, saying “such action is dangerous and can easily generate violence and other form of unrest in the ancient city of Daura.”
According to the Concerned Citizens, “Every citizen has the right to belong to a political party of his choice, but the minority cannot speak on behalf of the majority and without their acceptance.”
