Sources: Tottenham make Frank sack decision after players 'exchange words'

Tottenham are not planning to make an immediate decision on Thomas Frank’s future despite players and fans “exchanging words” after their late 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth.

Frank is under pressure at Spurs right now after a difficult six months in charge following his move from Brentford to become their new manager.

They have picked up just 27 points from 21 Premier League games so far, and currently occupy 14th place after a run of one win in their last six outings.

Antoine Semenyo fired Bournemouth to a late 3-2 win over Frank‘s side on Wednesday, with Tottenham fans making their grievances clear as they confronted their players after the game.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Spurs’ chiefs are prepared to give Frank more time to turn their form around rather than relieve him of his duties.

Frank is not under immediate threat of the sack at Spurs

Frank was seen drinking from a cup with Arsenal’s badge on it at the Vitality Stadium, which only wound Spurs supporters up further after a late defeat.

Football Insider’s sourcesrecently revealed that there is unrest among the Tottenham squad after Brennan Johnson was allowed to leave to join Crystal Palace, but Frank is not set to lose his job in the coming days.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “It was a real hard defeat, losing so late on in that game (against Bournemouth). They did play quite well, but ended up on the wrong end (of the result) and that now leaves them 14th in the table.

Pressure is building on Thomas Frank, there’s no getting away from that. You’ve got unrest from the fans as well, they were chanting ‘boring, boring Tottenham’ in that goalless draw against Brentford last week.

“The players were booed off against Sunderland, then after the final whistle at Bournemouth you had players exchanging words with the travelling fans as well.

“Look, all is not well there at Tottenham, there’s no getting away from that, but I don’t think Spurs are looking openly to make a decision on the manager.

They want to give him time, they want to see if he can turn things around.”

Who could replace Frank at Spurs if he is sacked?

Amid uncertainty over Frank’s position in charge, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is the bookies’ leading candidate to be Spurs’ next manager, at odds of 4/1.

He is followed by former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Fulham boss Marco Silva, who each come in at 6/1.

Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been touted to return to management in the capital, at odds of 8/1 to become Spurs’ next permanent manager.

Some other names in the running, according to the bookies, are Roberto De Zerbi, Andoni Iraola, Michael Carrick, Ruben Amorim and Robbie Keane.
