Livramento has long been linked with a Newcastle exit, but one of the biggest downfalls of the talented full-back is his struggles to stay 100 per cent fit.

Speaking after the game, Howe confirmed the seriousness of the situation, saying that it was the full-back’s hamstring, as first expected. He also added that he would be out for a “period of time.”
It is another crushing blow for the young defender, who hobbled off the pitch at St James’ Park, and his manager does not appear to be very positive about his prospects of playing again anytime soon.
Unsurprisingly, supporters are now desperate for the club to sign someone new during the January transfer window, but it remains to be seen how active the Magpies are going to be.

This is not even the first time that Livramento has been injured in 2025-26, having missed 10 games with a knee injury between September and November, and only just returned recently from an issue.
While he was only absent through injury last season, the full-back missed a total of 11 games for club and country during the 2023-24 season, with his biggest injury coming during his time at Southampton.
He suffered a cruciate ligament tear at St Mary’s Stadium, missing 64 games for club and country, and while that long-term injury was a freak issue, Newcastle fans have every right to be worried.
Howe is quickly running out of options across the backline, and with no signs of transfers being completed in the January window, general frustrations are evident.
Multiple Premier League teams continue to track the young talent, but it would not be surprising if some pulled out of the race this month due to his frustrating setbacks.
