Chris Waddle feels Chelsea needs to sign a striker next season
Despite Nicolas Jackson recording 14 goals in the Premier League this season for Chelsea, people still find the problem in them, and this time ex-England player Chris Waddle feels the Blues still need to look for a striker in the summer.
Jackson headed home a winner to help the Blues secure a hard-fought 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest. However, the Blues were heading towards a defeat after goals from Willy Boly and former Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi put the hosts in front despite an early goal from Mykhaylo Mudryk.
However, the visitors bounced back after goals from Raheem Sterling and Jackson, as Chelsea pushed for sixth place and are now equal in points with Newcastle United. But Jackson has once again been targeted by one of the pundits, Waddle, after he felt Chelsea still needed to sign a striker in the summer, (h/t Metro), Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he said:
‘If they get a centre forward, you will see Chelsea pushing for the top four next season. They just shaded it tonight.’’
Jackson’s form could put Chelsea in a dilemma over the signing of a striker, given that the Senegalese has shown that he is capable of leading the Blues No. 9. It may took him time to settle in the league, but he has scored 14 goals in his first season, and when you look at other players who have been playing in the league for years, it highlights how massively Jackson has refined his goal-scoring prowess.
But we must exercise considerable caution if we decide to recruit a striker. This summer is critical; we would like to hold onto what we now have rather than risk making any mistakes in the market.

Sometimes it’s better to pass on a purchase than to make a poor choice that hurts your team. All we have to do is ensure that the primary objectives are met, or wait and avoid squandering funds. If everyone is fit, this squad is very manageable.
