- Four people were killed in a crash including three teenagers and a taxi driver.
- The dead teenagers are believed to be aged 18 and 19, while the taxi driver was a man in his 50s.
- The crash occurred at approximately 12.45am on Sunday on Wigan Road in Bolton.
- The collision involved a red Seat Leon, which was carrying the teenagers, and a Citroen C4 Picasso taxi.
- In addition to the four deaths, five other people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
- Chief Inspector Helen McCormick confirmed that formal identification is still ongoing.
- Specialist family liaison officers have been deployed to support the families of those believed to have been killed.
- The scene was described as “particularly challenging” for the first responders from the police, fire, and ambulance services who worked through the night.
- Police noted that while serious collisions in Bolton have been reduced recently, this incident serves as a “tragic reminder” of the ongoing need for road safety improvements.
