The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said it was impossible to emerge the president of Nigeria without winning any of Lagos, Kano and Rivers states.
He said this on Friday while fielding questions in a media chat with some journalists in Port Harcourt.
Governor Wike was speaking in reaction to the political crisis bedevilling the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, centered on him and the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“In 2015, Buhari won Lagos and Kano states. Also, in 2019, Buhari won Lagos and Kano states, and PDP won Rivers State,” he said.
“Presently, Atiku does not have Lagos and Kano states, and now he said he doesn’t need Rivers State. How can he win?”
The PDP has been experiencing some crises in recent times over the party’s chairmanship, with some groups demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, the party chairman.
Wike and Atiku better settle their differences on time before it spoils the party’s chances.
